David Millner ☐

Never been married. Been living since about 2002 in Paris with Ursula, German, who is the mother of our two Paris-born children, Rosalie (21 in 2023) and Gaspard (18). I have two other children (24) spread about Europe.

Currently (in 2023) retired, but as a hobby teach communication design stuff for about 120 hours p.a. to the international stream at an école supérieure, in France a kind of university, in Paris.

Both Ursula and I are work-wise independent, what the French call profession libérale.

We live on the 5th floor of an old apartment, without an elevator, in Le quartier Barbès (part immigrant part bobo) in Paris 18th, about a 13-minute walk from the base of Montmartre, Sacré-Cœur.

Am nominally healthy as far as I know, albeit a little patched like most of us.

For what I have done professionally, here is my LinkedIn profile.

Here is my Instagram thing.

Trivia

  • Ian Sutherland and I shared an apartment together in Geneva for two years — friends used to tease us about being an unlikely couple.
  • In 1989 I took a “Sabbatical” and for example drove a Citroën 2CV alone from Geneva to Cape Town.
  • I am accredited as an artist in France. I have even an artist’s card meaning that I can walk into any public French museum for free, and usually without having to queue.

Reflections and memories of IMI

I was living on a mega shoestring, for example too poor to afford to ski with you guys on the weekends — but that did not matter as it was such a wonderful year: interesting and diverse group; cool that we are still in contact after 40 years!
