Director of Conferences at Ave Maria University in Southwest Florida. Ave Maria is a small traditional Catholic liberal arts university.
Quite a varied career. After IMI I entered a management training program of a regional American bank. In my banking career I moved through many areas – branch banking, mortgage lending, commercial real estate, investments (stock broker) and finally community development. As a banker I was on the board of a non-profit food bank – when the Executive Director left I took the job. After a few years in non-profit management my family became missionaries with Catholic Medical Mission in Belize Central America and after a year we moved to Germany for nine years where my wife worked as a physical therapist and I was a financial counselor. We moved back to the States and I began working for Ave Maria University. Retirement – my wife won’t allow it until my youngest graduates from college.
Reflections and memories of IMI
My favorite memories are of our wonderful fellow students. This was my first trip out of the U.S. and also my first business class (as well as my first soccer experience). I appreciated the conversations and friendliness of all the participants and everyone’s willingness to share their knowledge and expertise. This experience sparked my global interest and led to my subsequent missionary activity as well the decision to live 9 years in Germany. And I am not finished yet – we are contemplating a move to Italy later this year.
