Partner & family: I am still married to Anne, we will have our 46th anniversary next week. She is soon turning 70 and is a Professor Emeritus (which means that she still have an office at the university). Two daughters, the youngest one, Cathinka, a master in science, lso has an MBA from IMD (like Lasse’s daughter) some 10 years ago. Our oldest daughter, educated in law, works in the Foreign Ministry. Her daughter is actually born in Canberra, Australia. After Australia they spent 3 years in Brussels and are now back in Norway
I retired at the age of 65 in 2012.
The job I had in the bank was not very different from the previous years, but my employer DNB grew to become the largest shipping bank in the world. With the global finacial problems from 2008 and onwards it was really challenging times, but we did well – and had good fun. Our Life’s really changed in 2008 when we inherited a farm from my wife’s parents. From then on it was “never a dull moment” with both of us still working professionally 100% and most of our “free” time modernizing/refurbishing some old and worn down houses in Telemark, and running the farm. The next 5-10 years we spent almost all weekends and vacations at the farm (four hours drive away) and worked Mondays -Thursdays in our respective offices in Oslo. I could write a book about it. We have had some very good and interesting years and really feel privileged. In addition to the hard work, we have enjoyed skiing, fishing and a lot of hunting.

Reflections and memories of IMI
The year at IMI was very good for me. After high school and military service in 1968 I worked as a shipbroker in Oslo, New York, London and Lisbon. I did not really have a formal education, but they let me in at IMI never the less. After the year in Geneva I left the brokering business and from that time almost 30 years in ship finance. I was mainly stationed in Oslo, but for several years also in London and Athens in addition to travelling all over the Globe.
Besides the education at IMI; I think it is fair to say that we really had a swell time!!
